Will making an Uninsured Motorist Claim raise my insurance rates in Florida?

The short answer is no, Florida law prohibits the insurance company for raising your rates.

In Florida, insurance companies are prohibited from raising your rates for filing an uninsured or underinsured (UM) claim. However, if you receive certain discounts for not being in an car accident for a set period of time, you may lose some of those discounts. This is independent of filing the claim as they would be eliminated by simply being in an accident.

At the end of the day, you have your insurance there for when you need it. If you make a claim against PIP or no fault benefits they cannot raise your rates. If you have any question about insurance or car accident claims please give us a call or contact us here.
